The consensus here seems to be
unanimous among atheists, objectivists, and free-thinkers alike. What a bold step Sagan took
writing a piece of science fiction that "oozed" so much mystic-busting
philosophy and information. He challenged the need for a god, pip-squeak
neo-cheaters, religious charlatans, and so much more. In the process, he hailed the
great and powerful business leader, an honesty toward reality, and the unyielding
integrity shown in Foster's character.

Incomparable
Ayn Rand Dialog! The dialog in this movie was such a refreshing
change from any that I've seen in the last 30 years, except for The
Fountainhead (also by Ayn Rand). The characters speak as if every word was
too important to say anything unnecessary - ever. I felt cleaner after
watching it; and energized - ready to attempt the impossible.

Ayn
Rand not only wrote the screenplay for this film based on her classic
novel, she was inn favor of casting Gary Cooper as her architect hero
Howard Roark. That proved to be a mistake. Not only is Cooper too
"mature" for the role, he lacks the necessary passion to deliver
Rand's philosophical speeches with conviction. Despite this misstep,
"The Fountainhead" is a pretty faithful summary (as opposed to
adaptation) of the legendary novel. The rest of the cast is quite good,
and King Vidor's direction is masterful. The camera angles and
cinematography are all splendidly offbeat, making this film worthwhile for
its visual qualities alone. Excerpt from Review by

"We
The Living" was originally produced in Italy in 1942 as two separate
films. Many years later, under Ayn Rand's supervision, the films were
combined to make one film. Master tapes for this video were made from the
original negatives. Ayn Rand herself hailed "We The
Living" as, by far, the best film adaptation of her work. If you are
an admirer of the novels "Atlas Shrugged" or "The
Fountainhead", you certainly don't want to miss this film
